Hello,
How’s your heart?
This question always takes my breath away. It has me pause to notice what’s really going on in there rather than respond reflexively off the top of my head. The redirection back down into the body to connect with the heart and its wisdom itself is a healing process.
Asking this question is an invitation to deeper connection, it communicates care.
Acknowledging your response to this question is an act of courage.1 Sharing that response is an act of vulnerability.
Our minds are great storytellers with a desperate need for safety, sometimes at the expense of truth. Our hearts on the other hand, are trustworthy because they speak the truth.
Perhaps at some time during this world mental health day, and on every other day, our minds could do with some heart medicine.
From mine to yours,
Michael
P.S. If you’re a man who’d like to connect with other men from a more heart-centered place, join the Men’s Circle. Registrations close today and we begin Monday 14th October.
Middle English (denoting the heart, as the seat of feelings): from Old French corage, from Latin cor ‘heart’.
